In the Dugout with Matt 14.03.15

Good Afternoon everyone and welcome to Long Lane park. Today we host Wellington FC in another important league game. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff and fans of our opposition a safe journey home after the game.

Football is a funny old game, to coin a phrase of many a manager and player involved in the sport since it began, the last three games have probably seen one of our most inconsistent periods of the season with the loss to Khalsa followed by a fantastic win and overall achievement for everyone at the club in reaching a semi final before the loss last Saturday.

The semi final was a thoroughly professional performance and very well deserved win. The sending off had a baring on the game of course however, I feel that even without this we would of made it through the final. We now have a wonderful occasion to look forward to. We will not be going to just make up the numbers. This squad now has a winning mentality and we will be going there with only one thought in mind, to lift the winners trophy.

Last Saturday was an extremely disappointing display and has only added to the fact that the bottom of the league has tightened up over the last few weeks. I thought overall we looked tired and I feel that the exploits of the previous Tuesday had taken a lot out of us during that game. We will of course be looking to get back to basics and bounce back this afternoon in which promises to be another tough encounter.

I would like to end on a note which made me extremely proud to be involved with this club from this week. Last Monday I was joined by other representatives from the club to say goodbye to a club Legend. Arthur Mason sadly passed away a few weeks ago and this very occasion which I attended was his funeral. It was a fitting send off for a truly wonderful man and I know he will be watching down, kicking every ball with us as he always did when he came to watch. The rest of the season is dedicated to you Arthur.

Enjoy the game.
