Club Profile

Newport Town

Ground
Newport Town was founded in 1896 in the market town of Newport Shropshire. It has been successful in league and cup competitions on a number of occasions, the last of these was winning promotion to the West Midlands Regional League division 1 in the 2015/16 season.
The club continued in its current home of Shuker fields until a successful side won promotion to the WMRL premier in the 1990s. Unfortunately Shuker field did not meet the criteria for this division and  the team went on to ground share in Wolverhampton which ultimately saw the demise of the club which folded midway through the season.
Newport Town was resurrected in 2010 when a group of players led by Chairman Phil Lewis applied to rejoin the West Midlands Regional League. They returned to Shuker field  under the management team made up of ex players.
2016/2017 was a season of mixed fortunes with a change of management half way through the season, however we were delighted when Newport’s very own Adam Proudlock took on the role.
