The performance slipped markedly from the previous Saturday, but The Lockmen found a way to win this pre-season friendly against a Penn Croft team who played in the style of their manager, former Lockmen favourite Danny Carter.  Chad Birch was first to show for the visitors when his third minute run and cross saused all kinds of problems for Penn Croft.  On 12 minutes a cross from Curtis Ellis was knocked back across goal by Birch which found Alex causer, hwever, his effort was blocked for a corner.  Birch had a good shot blocked on 18 minutes beofre The Lockmen threatened through Liam Wilkinson’s cross three minutes later, Causer’s header forcing another corner.  On 23 minutes The reds won another corner beofre threatening again two minutes later.  This time Causer broke through and set up Curtis Ellis who saw his low effort turned behind for a corner.  From the flag-kick the penn keeper made a good catch.  Sam Brookes then chased a long ball on 32 minutes and got over a dangerous cross.  Unfortunately, he damaged his ankle in the process and The Lockmen never really looked as dangerous again.  The home nine had their first effort on 36 minutes before he forced Harry Radford into a good save.

HT PENN CROFT 0-0 WILLENHALL

The home sid ethreatened much more after the break as The reds seemed to switch off.  Radford punched a corner clear before a great effort was well headed clear.  The visitors meanwhile looked dangerous from a corner and a free-kick before Penn opened the scoring out of the blue on 62 minutes when a fine break was finished with style by a substitute.  However, after surviving a couple of chances, The Lockmen levelled on 71 minutes when Jamal Pinnock sent over a cross and Simon larmor rose highest to glance a header home.  However, with two minutes left, Birch did well to beat two players, he then lost control of the ball only to see a trialist mis-hit a shot totally off his shin but still find the back of the net.
