The Lockmen took a deserved point off the league leaders in a very feisty game, but will be dissappointed it wasn’t all three after taking an early two goal lead.
A slow start saw the home side threaten first on eight minutes when a smart attack down the Willenhall right through remie Birch saw the youngster pick out Sam Brook on the edge of the box. He took a couple of paces before unleashing a fierce drive which flew just beyond the far post. However, two minutes later and The Lockmen had the lead. A ball down the left found Kyle Thompson, and when he found Chadd Birch the striker produced a sublime piece of skill to brilliantly curl and dip the ball into the very top left hand corner of James Gettings’ goal. A good start became a great start on 12 minutes when a superb through ball from Brook picked out Dorgan and the striker did brilliantly to swap the ball onto his left foot before hammering a beauty hard and low intot he very far corner of the net. The visitors threatened on 13 minutes when skipper Angelo Franco fired in a free-kick which was headed high over. The league’s leading scorer Dan Westwood then pounced on a mis-control in the home defence, only to hammer just over. Dan Ware then produced a superb one -handed save before Steffan Cameron hit the bar for the visitors from the resulting corner. Dimitri Dunkley then fired wide on 21 minutes. Remie Birch then did brilliantly to break again down the right, forcing a corner. However, the corner was well dealt with. Dimitri Dunkley then fired wide after a good run for the visitors on 32 minutes. The visitors were already taking no prisoners in their tackling as they were clearly rattled and when they weren’t pushing the boundaries there they were falling over in an attempt to win free-kicks around the box. One such attempt saw Westwood fire high over on 36 minutes, however, the next soft free-kick saw Angelo Franco fire a superb shot around the wall and into the bottom corner.

Ware produced a good low save on 47 minutes to deny the visitors before ex-Red Jamal Fuller was cautioned for a late challenge. Curtis Ellis then fired at the visiting keeper on 52 minutes from another free-kick before yet another fre-kick to the home side saw Dan Sedgwick fire just over. The visitors then hit a post before Sedgwick did well to block the follow-up as the visitors started to force the game. Both sides had free-kicks before Giles Harvey, Kieron Northwood and Angelo Franco were all carded for nasty challenges. Kyle Thompson then pounced on a loose ball in the box from a flag-kick, again, he was off target. Sporting saw a corner on 79 minutes headed high over before they grabbed a leveler on 83 minutes. A ball into the box from a half cleared corner saw Franco pounce on the loose ball after a half blocked shot and he fired home. Both sides threw caution to the wind as they went for a late leveler before visiting sub Cooper was booked deep into stoppage-time. However, shortly after Giles Harvey stupidly pushed Remie Birch to the ground with the ball at the other end of the pitch to eventually get a second yellow before he attempted to start a fight as he left the pitch.
