The Lockmen put in a vastly improved performance but still went down to defeat in Shropshire.
The visitors showed first through a Ryan O’Brien run and cross on two minutes however it was scrambled clear. Ben Brazier pulled off several fine saves as the home side started to threaten both with his hands and his feet. Reece Mann had The Lockmen’s first serious effort on 22 minutes when he let fly from thirty yards but it was a yard off target. The home side broke the deadlock a minute later when a missed through ball let Paddy Townsend in on goal and he made no mistake. Willenhall tried to get back into the game when Jamal Jakeman saw his fierce effort blocked before he tore down the wing, beating the full-back, only to lose the ball as he attempted to cross. Cory Ensor then saw his effort blocked and Mann fired over just before the break as the visitors had their best spell. The home side hit the outside of a post a minute later from a fierce effort from a corner.
The Lockmen needed a good start to the second-half but instead they found themselves two down inside two minutes to a wonder strike when a 25 yarder flew into the very top left hand of the goal. Brazier made several more fine saves and Cory Ensor headed a cross shot off the line before it was 3-0 from the corner when an unmarked Michael Owen headed home.
