FULL MATCH REPORT
The Lockmen had the best possible start to the game when they scored after only 24 seconds. A ball into the box found Mikey Clark and his volley flew into the very top right hand corner of the net. The Lockmen then doubled their lead on nine minutes when Matt Dove played a quick one-two as he attacked from the left and he fired the return ball sweetly across Rob Dalloway in the home goal. The pressure continued as Willenhall won a corner on ten minutes, it was half cleared as far as Mikey Clark 25 yards out, his return effort whistled just wide. The Lockmen were forced to defend an 18th minute corner, which was headed clear comfortably before Graham Ashton saw a header blocked from a Reds corner three minutes later. Ben Holden then easily cleared the home side’s next corner, punching with distance to clear the danger. When the ball was worked back wide and crossed in he then caught well under pressure to clean up. On 34 minutes the home side scored with their first on target effort when a ball into the box from left to right found the unmarked skipper Rich Costello and he fired into the corner past an unprotected Ben Holden. The Lockmen then lost Craig Sudlow just before the break, signalling the return of the suspension-free Mattie Dorgan. Two minutes into stoppage-time the home team levelled. There seemed no danger when Ben Pearsall fired a shot from the edge of the area straight at Ben Holden, but it appeared to kick up off the turf and somehow bounce through his hands for an undeserved leveller.
HT BEWDLEY TOWN 2-2 WILLENHALL TOWN
Jarrett was just over five minutes after the restart with the first effort of note after he had cut in from wide on the left before Dalloway made a superb save to grab the ball off Eddie Wilson’s toes as he raced goalwards on 59 minutes. On the hour a lovely turn and pass from sub Dorgan set up Clark and his attempt saw the ball fly inches wide. Clark saw another shot veer just wide on 65 minutes in what was now a midfield war of attrition generally. With twelve minutes remaining the hosts stunned Willenhall when a wayward strike from out on the right saw the ball hit Liam Hodges and he guided a shot past the wrong-footed keeper. Wilson then forced a great stop from Dalloway two minutes from time, though he needed to attempts to prevent the ball squirming away from him
