FULL MATCH REPORT
A quiet opening to the game was finally dispersed on 15 minutes when an Eddie Wilson cross found Matt Dorgan lurking in the box, his first time shot brought a great save out of Cassies keeper Liam Stanton at the expense of a corner. The Casuals won their own flag-kick on 22 minutes, this too was dealt with easily. The Lockmen had a half chance on the half-hour as Mikey Clark latched onto a short back-pass to lob over the onrushing keeper but unfortunately was also off-target. On 36 minutes Wilson saw his free-kick blocked by the wall but when he returned the ball into the box Dorgan managed to get a strong touch on the ball but diverted it straight at Stanton. Casuals had a free-kick on the edge of the box seven minutes before the break, but it was fielded comfortably by Ben Holden. Sixty seconds later and Lyndon Weller’s header from a Wilson corner brought a superb touch over from Stanton, however the corner was easily caught and the danger was gone.
HT WILLENHALL TOWN 0-0 WOLVERHAMPTON CASUALS
The visitors had two half chances at the start of the second half, but these were cleared before Clark played a ball goalwards for Kade Lewis to chase. He reached it but pulled his effort wide. The visitors then hit Willenhall with a double sucker punch as, on the hour, Liam Hughes headed home unmarked before Dan Westwood was allowed to turn in the box and he somehow managed to fire home from the tightest of angles a minute later. Wilson fired at Stanton before sub Daniel Jarrett replaced Kade lewis and immediately hit an effort inches beyond the far post with Stanton struggling. However four minutes later Hughes got his second and the visitor’s third when he was allowed just enough time and space to turn and he find the corner of the net. Jarrett forced another good save from Stanton from Wilson’s free-kick on 79 minutes before Ben Holden raced out bravely to save to prevent a fourth goal. With young subs Callum Foster and the debut-making Toumani Sidibe now causing trouble for the Casuals’ defence with their willingness to attack the full-backs it was the latter who finally set up a goal for The Lockmen with seven minutes remaining. He attacked down the left, skinned his marker before crossing low for Eddie Wilson to sweep home. A Wilson free-kick three minutes into stoppage-time almost produced a second Willenhall goal, Jarrett’s header flew at the keeper when a yard either side would have beaten him.
