A Willenhall side ravaged by work commitments and injury put up a brave fight and only a five star performance from home keeper Sam Jones prevented a shock away win. The Lockmen started brightest in the bright morning sunshine with Wilson firing wide before Jones denied Harry Rickus with a super one handed save before Callum Foster was denied all inside the first seven minutes. The home side scored with their first attempt on 22 minutes when Daryl Rogers’ speculative shot appeared to be going wide nut curled at the last second, hit the inside of the post and rolled in. Five minutes later and The Lockmen were on terms when a mazy run from Foster took out four defenders before he teed up Tony Clift to run on and fire across Jones. Ben Holden made a couple of good low saves before the break as the home side woke up.
Danny Hemmings was then denied by Jones before Holden did likewise to Matt Jones at the other end. Two goals in two minutes won the game for Haughmond on 68 minutes when a brace from George Taylor finished them off, his first a fine header to finish off a super move involving Jones and Steve Rogers before a quality first time shot flew in the corner on 70 minutes. Dorgan on three occasions and Eddie Wilson were all denied by stunning full stretch saves by Jones to ensure the Shrewsbury side finished with a win.
