FULL MATCH REPORT
The Lockmen secured a vital three points with the last kick of the game. They made the best possible start to the game when, on eight minutes, Callum Foster and Eddie Wilson combined well for the former to dance past a couple of tackles in the box and fire past the keeper from a tight angle. Just past the quarter-hour mark, Wilson fired in from 25 yards only for keeper Nathan Phillips to position himself well for a comfortably catch. The visitors first attack came on 21 minutes when they won a corner and promptly levelled. When the ball was played in it dropped perfectly for Sam Pearson to fire home unmarked from eight yards out. Tom Dawson then chased a long ball forwards on 34 minutes and flicked it past keeper Ben Holden, only for Andre Calder to clear off the line from his shot. Paul Holden then hacked another attempt off the line two minutes later as Peggy finally awoke. With four minutes to play in the half, Juniors, not for the first time, showed no qualms about chopping down a player in a dangerous position, helped by a weak official who appeared not to notice the constant fouls. This time Mikey Clark was the victim, but Wilson’s strike almost brought a second goal as Phillips could only push the ball skywards before fortunately watching the ball drop back straight into his hands. A minute later another foul on Clark on half-way wide on the right wing saw the home side punished for their approach. Tom Turner swung a ball into the edge of the box on the far side of the pitch where skipper Paul Holden raced in to loop a fntastic header into the corner of the net that Phillips could only help on its way.
HT PEGASUS JUNIORS 1-2 WILLENHALL TOWN
The Lockmen started brightly after the break, winning two early corners before Pegasus did likewise on 50 minutes, Lyndon Weller clearing the danger. Holden went close to his second goal on 52 minutes when he sent a shot flying a yard over the bar. Foster, who was causing mayhem with two markers constantly unable to stop him breaking clear legally, then danced through three defenders before crossing but the ball was cleared easily. Juniors then had a free-kick at the other end, again Ben Holden was untroubled as he caught the ball. On 64 minutes Pearson had a chance to level again for the hosts only for Weller to produce a super block to deny him. Sixty seconds later and another free-kick for yet another lunge on Foster saw Wilson drive the ball into the box towards Clark. His strike was on target but again Phillips had to juggle the ball to get it under control. Wilson saw a free-kick just over before Foster skinned his new markers and produced a cross that saw Wilson fire a yard over the bar. The home side started to raise the pressure and Turner produced a fine tacle to deny a shot from a dangerous position before sub Scott Harris somehow got his head to a dangerous through ball and guided it back to keeper Holden. Pearson then saw Ben Holden take his 89th minute effort comfortably. The Lockmen appeared to have undone all of their fine work two minutes into stoppage-time when the defence missed a long hopeful ball down the left wing, the attempted header sliding perfectly to Pegasus sub Jamie Cuthbertson to fire into the net. However, from the restart the ball was quickly moved to the right wing where it was worked into the box. Wilson and Foster combined yet again to set up Craig Sudlow to smash the ball into the roof of the net for the last gasp winner, to the obvious delight of all of the visitors and confirm a deserved three points.
