The Lockmen slipped to a disappointing defeat in Shropshire as they put in an unconvincing performance.
Chris Adamson made three early saves to deny the hosts. Firstly, he was quick off his line on six minutes to block Jack Wilson’s effort, two minutes later he denied a clean through Kieran Buckley after his defence had conceded possession. Finally, he pushed away a dangerous corner before the recycled ball was headed clear. Steve Stearn swung in two crosses for the visitors, the second forcing an unproductive corner on ten minutes.
The Lockmen forced a corner on 18 minutes after Lewis Ayres had fumbled a routine ball forward from a free-kick. Luke Batham found Jay Evans on twenty minutes after clever work had set him free, Adamson again blocking well. A minute later Lewis Gill saw a ball forward find Liam Hickman and his effort was pushed out by Ayres. The home side were awarded a corner on 24 minutes after James Ganderton saw his effort blocked. Adamson then saved from the flag-kick. From the kick, The Lockman picked out Gill and his carry and ball forward found space for Hickman but his effort was too high. Leon Blake was then put through for the hosts but he was wide when he was played through the visiting defence. The Blues won two corners before Batham fired wide on 38 minutes. Just as it looked as if The Lockmen had survived through to the break, Leon Blake popped up to fire home when a cross was merely watched as it flew across the box. Two minutes into stoppage time and Adamson did brilliantly to touch over a fierce strike.
HT ALLSCOTT 1-0 WILLENHALL TOWN
Stearn headed wide from a free-kick after 51 minutes and a minute later Damian Wood fed Hickman who forced a save from a minute later as The Lockmen attempted a comeback. However, with 59 minutes on the clock, Ben Parker then scored a second after he was left unmarked. Wilson cleared a Wood strike off the line but The Lockmen never really looked like getting back into it. Wilson was then in action up the other end when he headed a third goal on 63 minutes after Adamson had punched out a free-kick. Substitute Luke Green did well on 72 minutes to win a corner after a jinking run but this was cleared. Two minutes later and Wilson blazed over the goal after the ball had dropped to him eight yards out and unmarked. Brad Hamblin then set up Blake for a fourth goal on 83 minutes before Dilpreet Singh saw a stunning strike brilliantly pushed onto the cross-bar as the visitors sought a consolation.
