Simon joined the Club as a volunteer in Spring 2011 and got involved in producing the match day programme and helping out on a match day.
He became more actively involved over the course of the season, supporting the voluntary committee in place at the time. Simon set up the Limited Company to manage the Clubs affairs going forward in December 2011 and the voluntary committee agreed to his appointment as Director to facilitate the transitional period from Members Committee to Limited Company. He has been Match Secretary and Treasurer and is currently Chairperson and Secretary.
Simon doesn’t come from a footballing background and admits he had to learn fast and hit the ground running but loves his involvement with the Club.
Simon’s initial remit was to bring his transferable skills to the Club and to keep the Club alive and kicking, keep it’s name and keep playing football. To date the Club has achieved this, secured a move to a new ground in 2013, continues to attract young players and in July 2014 achieved the coveted Charter Standard Club status.
Simon started his working life in the printing industry and later spent 14 years working in the public sector as a Civil Servant. He later specialised in working with older people and has for the last decade or so worked in social housing and not-for-profit sector in retirement housing with care and support.
He is a registered care manager of a domiciliary care agency. Hobbies include reading, non-league football and music.
